Joshua Jackson is back on TV, but not in the way you’d think. Actually, we can’t get over his new role. Remember when had a fantastic five-year run on the sci-fi hit Fringe? We thought that was showing him in a different light, when he almost made us forget he ever played the lovable rapscallion Pacey Witter. Almost. Sure, he was no longer the man-boy from Dawson’s Creek whom fans couldn’t resist, but there were glimmers of Pacey in Peter Bishop every now and again..
No, really, who can resist that smile? WHO?
But now, after missing from action for nearly two years, the Vancouver actor is back as one of the stars of new TV series The Affair. And if you were hoping his portrayal would be Creek– and Fringe-like, we’re here to bring you the bad news and let you know that Pacey is gone, gone forever.
The Affair centres on two people (played by Dominic West and Ruth Wilson) who are about to embark on, well, an affair. Jackson plays Wilson’s husband, Cole Lockhart, and if that’s not a dastardly name, we don’t what is. The story of the affair is told separately from the male and female perspectives and by the end of the pilot, we get to know a little more about Cole. And know he’s nothing like our Pacey. Because …
Pacey wouldn’t even think about cheating on Joey or Andie (thought she did cheat on him). Or Audrey— wait. Never mind.
Pacey wasn’t as smooth a talker as we think Cole probably is …
…but he was always a gentleman.
Pacey would never throw his lady around (like Cole does!). He would always use his words when he wanted to mix it up.
Or, God forbid, force himself on one.
But they both clearly love the ladies — and the ladies love them too, so much so that they’d be willing to jump in the ocean for them.
Like Cole, Pacey was misunderstood, in so many other, different ways — but he got his happily ever after. Eventually. We’ll have to see where Cole ends up.
The Affair premieres on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. ET on The Movie Network.
