You’d have to be missing a brain to ditch this camp.
Held in various spots throughout the country, Zombie Survival Camp is on a mission to make Canadians the most zombie-prepared people on Earth. For $250, campers will learn how to outrun an undead horde, dress a bite wound and, of course, take out a zombie. On the third and final day, the walking dead are unleashed and participants put their new skills to the test.
Now, you’re probably thinking that this place sounds nuts. But hear us out, because zombie-fighting skills are a lot more applicable to day-to-day life than you might think.
“It’s an idea that’s clearly divorced from reality,” said camp co-founder Eric Somerville. “But when the zombies come out, the adrenaline kicks in nonetheless.”
The idea here is that if you’re ready for a zombie apocalypse, you’re ready for anything. After all, the camp gives participants a very real reason to band together and forage for food, make weapons and complete challenges.
By the time you return home, you’ll know basic self-defence (called Zombie-Jitsu), how to purify water and, ultimately, how to brave disaster. And that’s just the tip of the ol’ tombstone.
So if you’re interested, the next camp kicks off in Orillia, Ont. from October 17-19.
Just make sure to bring that delicious brain with you.
