Men are from Mars and women are from Venus, right? Wrong. A photo from NASA’s Curiousity Rover has captured what appears to be a ghostly woman, standing stoically on the faraway planet.
But why is this possible woman just standing there?
Perhaps she is waiting for her ghost lover, a young Martian lad who died with her in a Cadillac en route to Mars High’s prom of 1974. Only one day a year do these two spirits reunite, and he is not punctual so she has to wait. Men, right? Get it together. He better have a corsage.
Or maybe she’s waiting for her girlfriends, because they’ve got a brunch scheduled. Melanie, the youngest of their saucy quartet, just broke up with her crab-faced boyfriend and so they’ve had to go to a different brunch cave. She doesn’t want to run into him, because Mars is a small community and that could be very awkward.
Or, perhaps more likely, it is a statue of the former queen of Mars, her bosom perpetually heaving as dust-filled winds swirl about. She was the ruler of crab-faced cave guards, she chaperoned Mars High promenades and she was known as really approachable, unlike previous Martian queens.
But perhaps this is just a rock formation that just happens to look like a woman from afar. Who can say? If she disappears in future photographs, we’re going to be very spooked.
