The casting rumours around HBO’s True Detective have been bananas. The only official news, that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would be two of the four leads for the second season, was announced over a month ago. The other two are said to be Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, and while HBO has yet to confirm the pair’s involvement, Kitsch has decided to do it for them.
The Friday Night Lights star told AdWeek that after taking a year off he “can’t f*cking wait to hit camera” on the crime drama, which is scheduled to start shooting in November.
If you’re not familiar with Kitsch, who also starred in Lone Survivor and Battleship, then
you’re dead to us here’s why we think — no, wait, we know he’s ready to play with the big boys (reportedly as a cop alongside Farrell and McAdams, while Vaughn plays the crime boss).
He’s a great actor.
Don’t let John Carter tell you anything different.
Come on, he was Tim Riggins, for goodness sake!
He proved in Savages that he could handle a gun.
Um, he’s hot.
Let us reiterate, he looks great without a shirt and since TD will film in L.A., considering how hot it’s been over the past couple months, this is definitely a good attribute to have.
Finally, and most importantly, he’s Canadian — and proud of it.
If HBO doesn’t confirm his (and McAdams’) casting soon, consider us out.
True Detective returns in 2015.
