We all knew that Prince William and Duchess Kate couldn’t stay in India and Bhutan forever. Their photos proved they had a spectacular time but they do have kids to get back home to. But their week-long trip to Asia has shown that they truly love and appreciate the countries they visited and we can see them making regular stops here in the future, hopefully with George and Charlotte.

The couple spent their last day at the Taj Mahal. It comes as no surprise as their visit to the 17th-century mausoleum was on the royal itinerary but we didn’t know how beautiful it was going to be until they got there.

Three of the Taj Mahal’s four minarets were undergoing repairs and surrounded by scaffolding but it was still a gorgeous day. The couple — she in a blue-and-white Naeem Khan dress; he in a blue blazer, crisp white shirt and khakis — looked cool despite the sweltering temperatures as they walked through and around the impressive site. Then they took a seat. On “Lady Di’s bench.”

The pair first stood, then sat on the stone bench at the end of the long reflecting pool, recreating the same shot taken of William’s late mother, the Princess of Wales. Unlike Will and Kate, Diana was alone for her pictures, as her visit was just four months before she and Prince Charles announced their split.

That image of Diana, on her solo visit to the Taj Mahal, symbolized her unhappy marriage. It must’ve been such an emotional stop for William. He and Kate powered through, marking the end of their trip. Now it’s back to real life, though their reunion with George and Charlotte must’ve been equally sweet..
