A royal New York state of mind
Prince William and Duchess Kate arrived in New York City on Sunday night and there were throngs of screaming fans at their hotel to welcome them. Their visit is brief — three days in both NYC and Washington — but jam-packed with appearances.
Shortly after arriving, the couple attended a dinner with 15 couples who are donors to their Royal Foundation. Kate’s Monday kicks off in Harlem, at the Northside Center for Child Development while William heads to D.C. today for a call with President Obama and visit with Vice President Joe Biden. During their mini-tour, he will also attend the International Corruption Hunters Alliance conference on preventing poaching and the illegal wildlife trade at the World Bank, then meet with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton for a conservation reception back in NYC. William will also hit the observation deck of the Empire State Building, he and Kate will visit the 9/11 Memorial and host a gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
But Monday night, the couple will be courtside as the Brooklyn Nets meet up with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Which begs the question — will the royals meet another royal tonight, ahem, Queen B? Please let there be pics of Kate and Beyoncé together, pretty please.
More than just a musical guest
James Franco may have hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live but it was musical guest Nicki Minaj who stole the show. She took on Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé and her impersonations were spot-on. Kim (Minaj) stopped by the Weekend Update desk to clear thngs up about her Paper magazine cover, as well as playing Bey in “Jingle Ballerz,” a Christmas special featuring pop stars as members of the Nativity. And of course B was the Virgin Mary. As if she was going to be a lowly wise man.
Party time, excellent
Here’s hoping Miley Cyrus‘ boyfriend, Patrick Schwarzenegger, isn’t the jealous type. There are reports that Miley met up with Paris Hilton and the two were making out in front of Arnold and Maria’s son. Please, who are we kidding? That’s a guy’s dream.
The balance is shifting
It’ll be another boy for Kourtney Kardashian, who revealed the news during Sunday’s episode of Kourtney and Khloé Take the Hamptons. What was adorable was when Kourt and Scott Disick let son Mason break the news to the rest of the family, which he did by running to everyone with a stick with a blue star. Congrats to the Kardashian-Disicks but what will happen when the boys will outnumber the girls? Lord knows.
Doing whatever they can
Demonstations over the Eric Garner and Ferguson Grand Jury decisions are still going strong in NYC and part of that reason is thanks to John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen. The couple paid for a fleet of food trucks to serve up free food to hungry protesters in New York’s Lincoln Square. John and Chrissy aren’t in NYC, nor have they taken credit for the trucks, but hey, that’s just what generous people do.

Legend has previously tweeted about issues in New York and Ferguson, Mo., but he is letting his music do the talking with his recent post about a song he wrote with Common for the upcoming movie Selma. It’s about the Montgomery marches that led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which is so relevant in the wake of recent protests. Awesome.

But wait, that’s not all you missed this weekend:
