George + airplanes = amazing

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had to work on Friday (July 8), attending the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, but since their son, Prince George, loves airplanes, they figured, hmm, why not bring him along to the world’s largest military air show?

George wore noise-blocking ear protectors as he waved to visitors, pointed at jets in the sky, checked out helicopters and basically won the entire day.

“I imagine his father has told him about helicopters, so he knew what that was called and kept saying, ‘tail rotor.’ It was good to see his technical knowledge! Some training going on early!” Flight Lieutenant Jim Hobkirk told People magazine.

The best part for George may have been when they got into the cockpit of a squirrel helicopter, the same aircraft William trained on in 2009.

“He seemed overawed with the noise and being inside a helicopter. It was a lovely family moment,” Hobkirk said. “We shut the doors so they could have a quiet moment to themselves. The Duke was telling him, ‘I used to fly these.’ George was very quiet.”

Hobkirk added: “The Duke was trying to pointing out things. Everyone was just trying to keep him happy. There was a lot going on for him with the noise from all these airplanes. He seemed quite subdued in the end. They wanted to put him on the Duke’s lap [at the controls], but he was having none of it. The Duchess suggested shutting the door to try to persuade him. But he was happy sitting with his mum.”

The annual event supports the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, which aims to support the RAF and encourage interest of the aviation industry among young people. Kate is now Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadets, a role which she took over from Prince Philip late last year. Combine that with Will’s ties to the RAF, in which he served as a search and rescue pilot in Anglesey, and it’s no wonder George loves it too. Hopefully next year they bring Charlotte too.

Babies, babies, babies!

There was a lot of baby-popping going on. On Friday, Nicky Hilton gave birth to her first baby. She and husband James Rothschild welcomed Lily Grace Victoria Rothschild to the world on their one-year anniversary. Aw, how sweet is that? Their daughter weighed in at seven and a half pounds, ET Online reports, and Nicky was surrounded by family.

Thankful for the best anniversary gift ever 💘 our beautiful daughter Lily-Grace.

Liv Tyler also welcomed her first girl. Lula Rose Gardner, her second child with fiancé David Gardner, with whom she also shares 17-month-old son Sailor Gene, arrived Friday night and weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. “The family is ecstatic,” her rep told People. Now Milo, her 11-year-old son from her first marriage, is a big bro to two.

And finally, Alanis Morissette announced on Friday that she and husband Mario Treadway had a baby girl on June 23. Onyx Solace Morissette-Treadway joins big brother Ever Imre and, whoa. That is a lot of babies. Congrats to all the families!

Russell Brand confirms he’s gonna be a daddy
OK, one more baby post. Sort of. Russell Brand revealed that he is expecting a child with girlfriend Laura Gallacher the only way he knows how: hilariously.

Right then. My Mum bought me this. Time to get ready! #trewlit #bookstagram #parenting

The Sun reported a couple months back that Gallacher was about five months pregnant, putting her in her third trimester now. Congrats to them. We can’t wait to see Rusty on daddy duty.

Kylie really wants people to think she’s engaged

Kylie Jenner and Tyga are back together, something we all had a feeling was bound to happen. But on Friday, she posted a pic on Instagram that had many people wondering, “What the what is going on there?”

No, no, not the half-opaque, half-mirrored sunglasses (though what’s up with that?); rather the massive ring on her left hand on THAT finger. Of course her beautiful full lips are sealed but the pic comes a day after she shared a photo of her and Tyga on Facebook with the caption “Mr. and Mrs.”

It’s not the first time she referred to the rapper as her very significant other. In a Snapchat video on June 29, she called Tyga “my husband” leading to kind of speculation that’s happening now. Yeah, she’s good at this game, isn’t she?

Some stars won’t be shining brightly on the Hamilton stage

During the opening number of Saturday night’s performance of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda made his entrance and received a one-minute standing ovation. Normal, right? But it wasn’t any ordinary night, nor was it any ordinary performance. The actor (who also created the show and wrote the musical’s music and lyrics) was performing his last in the title role of Alexander Hamilton.

Miranda, along with co-stars and original cast members Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo and Ariana DeBose, bid farewell to the production. And the audience played a part too. Many in attendance were family, friends and fans, who all sang along with actor Rory O’Malley during his Act I number “You’ll Be Back,” reports People.

Those who couldn’t make it to the Richard Rodgers Theater (so, most of us) got our own chance to see the farewell performance as the show’s final curtain call was live-streamed for fans on Facebook.

At the performance’s official afterparty later, Miranda debuted a short new haircut (sorry, people, he’s really done) and his successor, longtime friend and actor Javier Muñoz, was also there to party … but he didn’t stay late as he debuts as Hamilton tonight. He’s got some big shoes to fill but if Miranda trusts him, then we all should. Hamilton will have a new look, even a new sound, but as long as it lives on, that’s all that matters.
