Whether you’re a deal-hound, procrastinator or just a person who has a bag packed at all times, you’ll know there’s a limited pool of deals to grab on the day of travel.
But maybe that was never true? Maybe the process of finding them was just so outdated?
That’s where Hopper has stepped in with its “Flight Tonight” app, available on iOS. Throughout the day, the app’s algorithm scours for deals in your area, and presents them to you on its simple interface. If you see something you like, there’s a limited window, because these deals go fast and they’re ever-changing.
The app is definitely sweet, but Hopper’s main site is pretty cool, too. If you’re curious about the best times to travel to any given destination, the site has a report for it. For example, according to Hopper, the lowest fares from Toronto to New York City can be found in mid May, and it even tells you that the lowest price for a trip is currently under $200. And if that isn’t enough data, Hopper also gives you alternative flight paths to measure against, to ensure you’re getting the lowest price.
The site notes that this information is “based on 412,436 round-trip flight prices from crowd-sourced airfare searches made between December 21, 2014 and January 18, 2015.” So, yeah, it’s not quite a guess as much as it is a very convincing estimate.
