Dine and dash rule No.1: Don’t go back to the restaurant you just scammed.
Someone should probably tell that to Kyla Anne MacMillan of Red Deer, Alta.. Because she, along with two friends, hit the town of Brandon, Manitoba hard on Monday — five-finger discount style. The group downed 23 shots at a local pub — 10 B-52s, six Dirty Hookers, six tequilas and one vodka — plus a pitcher of beer and food.
But when their $160 bill finally arrived, the group didn’t waste any time scrambling out of there. They left in such a panic, that poor MacMillan forgot her purse at the table.
Looks like the party’s over.
She had to return to get it, because MacMillan says it contained important medication. Once there, she tried to play off the whole situation as a giant misunderstanding. MacMillan told them that she had just innocently stepped out to use an ATM and fully intended to pay her bill, but that’s when her two evil friends skipped out on her, leaving her to cover the whole meal.
Not surprisingly, the staff didn’t buy her story — and neither did the judge. She was fined $325 on top of the $160 bill she still has to pay.
Oh, and as for her “I was going to the ATM” story, it was found that MacMillan is unemployed, only had $5.35 on her person the night of the dash, while her bank account balance was at zero.
Now then, will that be paper or plastic?
