You know when something pisses you off so much you’re left speechless? Like maybe you’re taken aback and are too stunned to say what you’re really thinking right away. Nothing is more irritating than coming up with the perfect comeback after an incident, after you’ve stewed and stewed and grown increasingly angry.
Rather than scream into a pillow or punch said pillow (poor pillows), Mel Rymill vented on Facebook — and quickly became an inspiration to women everywhere.
After fuming in the shower, just having returned from her first — and only — session with a personal trainer, she couldn’t get what said trainer said to her out of her head.
“Obviously you want to get back to your pre-baby weight.”
Mel actually booked the training session because she wanted to strengthen her core and up her endurance after a difficult pregnancy. But the more the media and engagement officer and former roller derby enthusiast thought about the trainer’s irksome assumption, the angrier she got. So she responded the best possible way. By posting a photo of herself in a nude bra and granny panties on Facebook and calling out all those body shamers whose victims tend to be women who just birthed little people.
Rymill, from Adelaide, South Australia, then encouraged other women to join her by posting their own body-confident pictures with the hashtag #badasssundies. She’s ready to start a revolution with those who think the same thing about themselves, and describes herself as “badass as f*ck.” We couldn’t agree more.
