If you ever needed proof that fate is a real thing and some relationships are destined to be, then prepare for your cynical hat to get knocked off your head. This fairy tale goes back to the year 2000. According to Sina News, a young man named Mr. Ye was visiting the May Fourth Square in the seaside city of Qingdao, China. A young woman, Ms. Xue, also happened to be visiting the site. Fast-forward to 2018 and Mr. Ye and Ms. Xue are now married with twins.

Sure, it doesn’t sound like a big deal, as couples who come from the same or nearby parts have obviously visited the same places. But let’s take it step further, shall we? Because it just so happens that not only did they both visit May Fourth Square on the same day as teenagers but they also took photos in front of the same statue. AT THE SAME TIME. We mean, like, literally the same second. Literally.

It was Ye who spotted himself in the background of his wife’s pic. “When I saw the photo, I was taken by surprised and I got goosebumps all over my body … that was my pose for taking photos,” he said. “I also took a photo, it was the same posture, just from a different angle.”

If you didn’t believe in soulmates before, you must now! Because what are the chances that these two would find each other 11 years later? Sure, love works in mysterious ways but this is X-Files-level awesomeness right here.

Time to pull out the old photo boxes.
