Open wide, folks.
Your wallets, I mean. Because this burger is about to take a massive bite out of your bank account. The Glam Burger, available only in the U.K., is pretty much topped with the most expensive ingredients to ever grace the Earth. With a $2,000 price tag, you can rest assured that whatever foods a country is famous for, this burger’s got ’em.
But despite the hefty bill that comes with it, this dish isn’t exactly healthy. The burger is loaded with 2,618 calories (almost a dollar per calorie), so your next investment might have to be in a gym membership.
So why is it so outlandishly expensive?
As described on Groupon, the burger patty is made from Kobe Wagyu beef minced with New Zealand venison to “perfectly balance the fat content.” Black truffle brie is added to create a “liquid pocket” once the meat has been cooked, and then the whole thing is seasoned with smoked Himalayan salt and served with a Canadian lobster poached in Iranian saffron. The bun, meanwhile, is coated in edible gold leaf.
Yeah that’s right, edible gold. Because why not?
The finishing touches include adding a few shavings of grated white truffle – the most expensive ingredient – to the burger. But we’re not even done yet. Here’s the full list of the ingredients:
- Kobe Wagyu beef
- New Zealand venison
- Canadian lobster
- Black truffle brie
- Iranian saffron
- Maple syrup-coated bacon
- Hickory-smoked duck egg
- Gold leaf coated brioche bun
- Japanese matcha and cream mayonnaise
- Mango and Champagne jus
- Grated white truffle
Unfortunately, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get to try the world’s most expensive hamburger. It’s a one-off dish being made in partnership with Honky Tonk restaurant and online couponing site Groupon to celebrate the sale of its five millionth food and drink voucher.
But above all else, we were just happy to know that the Glam Burger couldn’t be complete without several famous Canadian staples. And that’s definitely something to be proud of.
So check out the video above, and get ready to salivate.
