This week’s worst dressed celebs were among the worst we’ve seen in a while. Most pitfalls are due to lack of a good fit, and far too much fabric. Whatever you do, don’t try these looks at home. Here are the worst looks of the week and how to fix ’em.
Worst looks of the week (and how to fix ’em): June 13, 2014
Cate BlanchettFlowing frills can certainly be elegant, but in Cate's case, there's simply too much of it. "Frumpy” is probably not the look the typically-elegant silver screen star was going for. Let's tone them down a little, shall we?Getty Images
The fix: A frock of feathersPut aside the frills, and opt for feathers instead. This beautiful Alice + Olivia gown lets the feathers make the statement, while a simple silhouette keeps things understated and elegant.Saksfifthavenue.com
Lady GagaNot that we'd expect anything less wild on the Lady, but this getup just doesn't seem summertime appropriate to me. Would a little colour kill ya, Gaga? Or perhaps, a little decency?Getty Images
The fix: A sporty stapleLady Gaga would have looked better if she had taken advantage of this season's sporty trend. Vionnet makes a great sheath dress with sporty stripes, and the same cheeky mesh peek-a-boo qualities Gaga opted for. This look would have been far more "summer day dress," and would have looked way better.
Sarah Jessica ParkerOh Sarah, what era did you step out of? This looks like a cross between something Buttercup from The Princess Bride would have worn. Not modern, not trendy, but might make a comfy night dress, if that's your thing.Getty Images
The fix: A modern floral frockKeep the subtle, summery floral print but ditch the excess of fabric. This Haute Hippie frock has the relaxed, flowing quality down pat, and it also reeled things in a tad.Revolveclothing.com
Taryn ManningI'm not even sure where to start with this look. Taryn's shirt is ill-fitting, unflattering and boring, her pants are iffy at best, and those shoes are awful. I'd say you could work with one of these items at a time, but piled on together ― they're a disaster.Getty Images
The fix: A trendy blouseIf I must choose one thing, I'd opt to switch the shirt. This blouse by Bill Blass has a great print in the summer's trendy black and white. It would have added a dressy element that might have made the shiny pants make more sense. Taryn would have looked much better in this.Nastygal.com
Lady GagaGaga! Congratulations on making it onto the worst dressed list TWICE this week. Not that it hasn't happened before. I get the '80s vibe you're going for, but no matter how costume-y your outfit is, there's just no excuse for an unflattering fit. Those shorts are just awful.Getty Images
The fix: Mom jeans to the rescueWho knew a pair of mom jeans could save the day? DBG's ultra-high waisted pair would complete Gaga's ’80s-themed look with an abundance of flare, minus the trashy cut-off shorts. Although, trashy seems to be Lady Gaga's thing, and in that case... I probably can't help. Sorry, Gaga.Urbanoutfitters.com
