Dolly Parton famously complained that working nine to five was no way to make a living but what if we told you that there was one job out there that required much, much longer hours. With no breaks. The people who do this type of labour spend most of their working hours on their feet. Oh, and forget about vacation days, the job, touted as the toughest one in the whole world, actually gets more labour-intensive around the holidays. Then there’s the issue of a salary – that is, well, there’s no salary. Let me guess – you’re not exactly scrambling to put the finishing touches on your current CV, are you?

But wait! This 24/7, 365-days-a-year position isn’t all bad. The creators of a new viral video that features interviews from 24 astonished job applicants boast that “the meaningful connections that you make and the feeling that you get from helping your associate are immeasurable.” Still not convinced?

It turns out that the job interviews were actually a ruse – the video is part of a campaign for Cardstore.com – but the surprise position revealed at the end of the video is real and the fake interviewer isn’t kidding when he describes just how difficult this often under-appreciated role is.

The responses of the interviewees, who applied after seeing an ad for the position in newspapers and online, are priceless and in some cases truly moving. Check out the video above and then think about picking up the phone and calling one of the incredible people who do this difficult job to tell them just how important they really are.
