When a show’s production is delayed for one reason or another, it’s not usually a good sign for fans. Often, it’s a dreaded unofficial cancellation which is exactly what fans of Wynonna Earp were fearing when season four of the series was delayed indefinitely. Well, fear no more, Earpers! The series just announced that they’ve been greenlit for season four, set to premiere in summer 2020.

The Calgary-filmed sci-fi-western—starring Canadians Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon—completed season three last September but financial uncertainty delayed any announcement that a fourth season would happen. Until now, that is. After a huge fan outcry and some shuffling behind the scenes, Wynonna is BACK, baby!

It’s hard to underestimate the role fans played in getting their beloved show back—social media action worked for Brooklyn Nine-Nine and One Day at a Time and now it’s worked for Wynonna Earp too.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we get to make more Wynonna Earp, and are grateful to our networks and partners for working hard to ensure we can,” showrunner Emily Andras said in a press release. “This is an enormous testament to our passionate and fierce fans, the Earpers, who remind us every day how to fight like hell for the things you love with wit, ferocity and kindness.”

Passionate indeed! It’s those fierce fans that won Wynonna the 2018 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, have been lauded as “the world’s nicest TV fandom” and who continued to support her through those months of uncertainty. You did this, Earpers, and now it’s time to ~celebrate~.

And there’s more good news for Canadian fans—seasons one to three of the show will be available for streaming this fall on Crave.ca. So you can rewatch the previous seasons (several times) before the show comes back in summer 2020.
