If you hate having to share the subway with thousands of other commuters everyday, we have some good news: you can now buy your very own underground railcar.
Several of Montreal Metro’s old subway cars, some which have been in service since the system opened half a century ago, are now up for sale to the public. They go for about $1,000 each (plus a $4,000 shipping cost), and you can do just about anything with them.
“In other systems, metro cars have ended up from everything from being clothing stores, to restaurants to being used as student cafes,” Marvin Rotrand with the Montreal Transit Authority said.
He’s definitely not wrong.
In New York, officials have dumped old subway cars into the ocean:

Other people have turned them into grocery stores:
Or really badass movie props:
How about your very own backyard roller coaster?
Or this super cool basement entrance?
If all else fails, just open up a Subway restaurant:
If you’re interested, you can submit a proposal to Société de transport de Montréal right here. There are some restrictions on what exactly you can do with the subway cars, so make sure you read the fine print carefully. The deadline is June 1.
