If you’ve ever had the urge to spend thousands of dollars on historical underpants measuring 114 cm, then have we got the sale for you! Queen Victoria’s cotton underwear will be going on auction next week at Chippenham Auction Rooms, and if it is anything like the last time a pair of her underwear was up for sale (actually, yes, this is not the first time), then these drawers could pull in 6,200 pounds (or $12,160).
Need more than just $12,000 underwear? Okay, there’s also going to be some nightdresses, stockings and hats from Queen Victoria’s wardrobe. It would seem that hats are the only thing that isn’t some sort of regal undergarment. So a word of warning to anyone who thought they might be attending an exclusive, panties-only auction block: There will be hats, and you may have to sit through their bids before the auctioneer moves on to the next petticoat. Oh, and unrelated to Queen Victoria, but there will also be a propeller from a 1935 Gypsy 3 biplane. This is the wackiest auction ever.
