As online shopping gets easier and easier (praise) we’ve been finding more and more ways to avoid getting out of bed and actually going to the store to shop.
However, we still seem to need to go out to the store to get our beauty fix. Of course you can buy makeup online if you’re refilling a product you know and love, that’s no big deal. Taking a leap of faith with a product is a bit more worrisome though, causing most of us to trudge to the store where the Sephora employees tell us “Oh that’s your colour.” Well worry no more as you browse through the beautiful lipsticks and question how that red, which seems to be exactly the same as another red, can be $30 more.
You can now try on new lipsticks without even leaving the comfort of your bed. This is everyone’s dream, we’re sure. All you need to do is go on Facebook messenger. That’s right, no annoying apps taking up too much storage on your phone, you just hop onto messenger and search for “Modiface.” Modiface is a tech beauty company that wants to make beauty easier, and we’ve got to say, they’re succeeding with this one.
We even tested out the process to see how easy it is. After searching for Modiface they’ll send you a message asking about your lipstick preferences. Not only can you search for the colour you want to try, you can also search by brand if you’re really devoted to that Dior lip colour.
From there it will show you one or more products that match your search criteria. They even show lip glosses that you might be interested in. Once you’ve found a product you like, you have two options, to try it on or to buy it.
If you choose to try it on it’ll ask for you to send a picture of your face. You don’t have to take a picture though, you can choose from one of many selfies we know you already have. Send the photo and let Modiface do its magic.
Volia! They send back your photo, but in it you’re wearing the lip colour you selected. It may not be on your lips perfectly (as seen above) but it can give you a pretty good idea of what the product will look like on you! The perfect way to know if the colour is worth the buy without *actually* having to try it on.
Plus you don’t have to worry about taking it off to try on a new colour! It’s also more hygienic than all the swatches of lipstick you know you’ll put on your hand. From there you have the option to buy the lipstick — if you love it. If you click to buy, Facebook will take you directly to Sephora’s website where the product is available.
Online shopping where you get to try the product on? Amazing. We can only hope other beauty products are soon to follow! Also, could we do the same with clothes?
Either way, we’re going to be upping our lipstick game from now on.
