Thinking of heading to Chicago anytime soon? If the art deco, brilliant pizza and hopping night life aren’t enough of a reason for you to visit The Windy City in the near future, this latest listing on Airbnb might change your mind. Especially if you’re an art lover.
That’s because Van Gogh’s The Bedroom is now an actual bedroom that you can stay in, and all for the little old sum of 14 bucks a night. Sound too good to be true? Well, you will have to actually book it first, we suppose. Which will be a challenge, considering bookings are all filled up from now until 2019.
The listing, which is situated in River North, is all a part of an installation by The Art Institute of Chicago, which has helped recreate every single detail of the bedroom to celebrate its new show, “Van Gogh’s Bedrooms” – a collection of the three paintings from his own abode that he painted from 1888-89.
The room itself looks like something out of a painting, which we suppose is the point. From the haphazard furniture to the post-impressionist palette, it’s all very much like walking into a physical painting, like an A-Ha video. For those concerned about the lack of space, however, don’t worry: the room is indeed a part of a larger apartment.
High school art buffs may recall that the painting was from the artist’s “Yellow House” in Arles, France, which suffered from great water damage shortly after it was finished.
Luckily, we’re pretty confident this little Airbnb won’t suffer the same fate.
