Princess Charlotte is nearly five months old, and with a stylish mom like the Duchess of Cambridge, she’s got some big fashionable footsteps to follow. But for now it’s Kate and Prince William who are dressing their little girl, and it turns out there’s one piece of clothing that little Charlotte won’t be seen in any time soon: dresses.
“Because they’re a traditional family, I’m sure that she’ll wear babysuits for the first year, and then only when she’s walking will she then move into dresses,” Rachel Riley, Kate’s go-to children’s wear designer, told People.
It’s all about onesies for the little princess. “Even in terms of separates, I don’t think she’ll be wearing separates until much later,” Riley added.
Consider the evidence. Prince George, at nine months, was still wearing onesies under his cardigans.
Or a babysuit, if you will.
Just like his dad, William.
And his uncle Harry.
So, for now, if you want to see Charlotte in a dress you’ll have to make do with her in her christening gown. Which is still beautiful. But we can’t wait until May when she’ll be wearing little jumpers and adorable frocks.
