We hope you have a hanky and an open heart ready, because you’ll be shedding tears of joy when you see this adorable birthday surprise video.
A certain David Beckham, who yesterday marked his 43rd birthday, was caught completely and emotionally off guard by the surprise appearance of eldest son Brooklyn at a family meal celebrating the occasion. Luckily, wife and matriarch Victoria Beckham was there to capture the whole joyful affair on video, and she let her almost 20 million Instagram followers in on the act too:
Clearly moved to tears, David also shared the clip with his almost 45 million followers, captioning it, “Best birthday surprise, my big boy coming home.” Asking Brooklyn in shock, “What are you doing here?,” he holds his son tight for a full 25 seconds, clearly taking in that he’s really all there. It’s a genuinely touching moment, which helps make the family seem refreshingly normal and real.
Even tiny Harper can be heard piping up, “I didn’t know Brooklyn was coming” — so David wasn’t the only one surprised. No doubt nineteen-year-old Brooklyn, who’s currently in New York studying photography at Parsons School of Design, was excited to gift papa David with his mere presence, especially given his notable absence from mama Victoria’s New York Fashion Week show in February.
Members of team Beckham have been off on various ventures, with Victoria soon collaborating on a full line of atheleisure wear with Reebok, Brooklyn caught up in a more off-again than on-again relationship with Chloe Grace Moretz, and youngest son Cruz showing off his singing chops via mum Victoria’s Insta, which makes us guess that family time with the whole gang in tow is somewhat of a precious rarity. And speaking of Cruz’s singing exploits, would you check out the lungs on this boy:
Ok, seriously, we’re going to need another hanky, because that boy has some serious talent, and his enthusiasm is too cute to handle.
As for the birthday, it just goes to show that the best things of all are the ones no amount of fame, money, or talent can buy – just a good old fashioned hug and well-spent quality time. And if that doesn’t tug on the old heartstrings, we don’t know what will.
