In theory, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night should stop the mailman from delivering a package, at least in the U.S. anyway.

But here in Canada, we have some different forces to contend with. And they can be, well…unbearable.

Matthew Fane learned that lesson in the funniest possible way when he went to check his mailbox up the street from his home in Greater Vancouver. Inside, he saw this note from Canada Post explaining why they couldn’t deliver a package:

Touché, Mr. Mailman. Touché. When the Crown company replied saying they wanted to investigate, Fane laughed it off:

According to the Huffington Post, bears are common in the neighbourhood. But Fane declined to give any more details about the blocked package to “help protect the postal worker’s privacy should the employer have issues with the situation.”

And that’s as sweet as a big ol’ bear hug.
