After a quarter century on TV, one of our most beloved Simpsons characters is set to meet a grisly end. And if you ask Springfield’s most notorious baddie Sideshow Bob, it’s a long time coming.

According to The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean, this Halloween on the year’s annual ‘Treehouse of Horror’ extravaganza, Sideshow Bob will finally get his wish— the TV clown began his quest to kill Bart back in 1993 during the classic “Cape Feare” episode—and will kill Bart Simpson. Even if it’s just for the night.

During a panel at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas this weekend, Jean explained that while watching Looney Tunes, he had always wanted to see the Coyote get his hands on the Road Runner , but it never happened. It will on The Simpsons version. “I hated frustration comedy so we’ll scratch that itch,” he declared.

Obviously Jean wouldn’t let us in on how exactly the red-fro’ed, Kelsey Grammer-voiced villain would murder Bart, but he revealed that Bob will have to face the reality of what to do with himself now that his life’s greatest mission has been accomplished. Things used to be so simple, Bob!

Don’t worry though, you can expect to see Bart the following week in his regularly scheduled time slot. The boy will only be killed for the spooky special.

Listen to Al Jean explain Bart’s untimely fate below. (Side note: Spider Pig is coming back too!)
