Anyone who doesn’t think kids can cook obviously hasn’t seen MasterChef Junior. Or Just Like Mom. Because on the CTV reality competition, eight-to-13-year-olds know how to impress the likes of Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliott, coming up with spectacular and stunning culinary creations that can be on the menu of any Michelin-star restaurant.
Now, pint-sized chefs in Canada have the chance to show off their cooking skills on The Marilyn Denis Show. Oh, and the grand prize? Just a trip to Paris for their entire family to enjoy a culinary adventure. No biggie.
Marilyn and MasterChef Canada‘s Michael Bonacini are teaming up with The Little Potato Company to create The Little Chef Casting Call, which gives young cooks across the country the chance of a lifetime.
The culinary contest opens Sept. 21 and is open to all Canadian children ages eight to 13. To enter, families must visit Marilyn.ca before Oct.18 and submit a video of their little chef cooking an original recipe that includes small potatoes. The competition will be narrowed down to the final two who will go head-to-head on The Marilyn Denis Show to compete for the change to travel to Paris. That’s right, there’s nothing small about these small potatoes.
Sounds easy enough, right? Because what kid doesn’t love potatoes? A dish that includes small potatoes can be anything, but where small potatoes are the star is another story. Maybe a bacon and egg gnocchi (like a variation of a carbonara). Or bacon-and-cheese-covered pierogies. Or bite-sized bacon-covered cheese and potato bites. (Can you tell we love bacon?) Or, wait. We’ve got it. A mashed potato and gravy volcano? Yep. There’s your winner.
