We’ve all heard of choose-your-own-adventure books, right? Those magical books we read when we were a little younger, in which we could decide to jump off a mountain side or attempt to fight the angry lion? It may have been a while since we’ve thought of those novels, but this music video for Jeff Buckley’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman” has brought the nostalgia in full force. In more ways than one.
Design studios Interlude and Blind have released an amazing new concept, a choose-your-own-adventure music video for the song (one of a number of great covers from the artist’s posthumous compilation album, You and I). And we’re not just talking about choosing the pictures you see as the song plays either. We’re talking about more than 1600 song combinations that any user can select as they go through the video, making it the most unique song selection experience around.
What a cool time to be into music. Bob Dylan should be proud.
Into unplugged tunes? Just go for the basic package, and let Buckley’s voice wash over you. Looking to incorporate more melodies into your life? Add in a full orchestra or a choir. The guys behind this have really pulled out all the stops, and we think it just may change the way we consume music for good.
Of course there is always the danger of having too much of a good thing. With all these options available you can play the song over… and over… and over… and never get sick of it. Oh, who are we kidding, would that really be so bad?
