Going to Disney World isn’t exactly a vacation. Ask any parent who has been and they’ll tell you there is a lot of work involved, what with all the walking, the stroller-pushing, the toting of children, dealing with them when they’re exhausted. But when you’re back home, away from the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and Epcot, all you want to do is go back.
So when your kids ask if you can move there, well actually, now you can. That’s right, Disney World can be your permanent address.
Golden Oak is the first community to offer single-family homes for sale directly on Disney property in Orlando. Located within Walt Disney World, it’s made up of four neighbourhoods — Marceline, Carolwood, Silverbrook and Kimball Trace — with private residences at the Four Seasons Orlando also being developed.
The European and Caribbean-style homes range from 3,000 to 12,000 square feet and are surrounded by parks, gardens, golf courses and sculptures of classic Disney characters, obviously. Residents also have access to a private clubhouse with dining options, a pool, fitness facility and family game areas.
The club even puts on parties and events like an early-morning safari where neighbours are “greeted by some exotic friends at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.”
The best part? There’s complimentary transportation to any of the four theme parks so you drop down the Tower of Terror, fly on the Dumbo ride, take on Toy Story Mania, and ride Expedition Everest, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain as often as you want.
Obviously living in the place Where Dreams Come True doesn’t come cheap. Prices start at $2 million, but despite the price tag, two of the four neighbourhoods are already sold out, according to their website. But once you factor in the beautiful Florida weather, nightly fireworks, and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and all kinds of Star Wars characters as your neighbours, it’s a small price to pay.
