Miley Cyrus released her seventh album, Plastic Hearts, at midnight on Friday, and it features some star-studded collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Dua Lipa and Billy Idol. After the 28-year-old singer released her new masterpiece, she took to Twitter to let her fans know that she's "overwhelmed by the support" she's been receiving for her new album — and it hasn't even been released for a full 24 hours yet.

"My PLASTIC HEART is overwhelmed by the support I'm receiving tonight! I was f--king born to make the record I've just released," Miley tweeted. She thanked her fans who have been by her side since the beginning of her career and said she appreciates them "more than I can properly articulate." She also thanked anyone she's ever "loved or lost."

Across the 15 tracks, the singer has an unapologetic tone, and we are here for it. A lot of Miley's fans have been trying to decipher her lyrics to each song and find out if she makes references to her former husband, Liam Hemsworth. The couple called it quits in August 2019 after less than a year of marriage, and Miley was very vocal about the split on Twitter.

The first track on the new album, titled "WTF Do I Know," dives right into their split. “Am I wrong that I moved on, and I / And I don’t even miss you / Thought that it’d be you until I die / But I let go,” she sings over the rock beat. The Hannah Montana alum addresses the marriage head-on with the lyrics, "I'm the type to drive a pickup through your mansion / I'm completely naked but I'm making it fashion / Maybe gettin' married just to cause a distraction / Here to tell you somethin' that you don't know." She also makes it very clear that Hemsworth will not be getting an apology anytime soon, singing, " "What the f--k do I know? I'm alone / 'Cause I couldn't be somebody's hero. You want an apology? Not from me / I had to leave you in your own misery."

Fans of the singer were here for the lyrics and Miley being completely upfront about her feelings.

In the vulnerable track, "Angels Like You," Miley appears to reference her marriage to the Isn't It Romantic star again, singing, "I know that you're wrong for me / Gonna wish we never met on the day I leave. I brought you down to your knees / 'Cause they say that misery loves company / It's not your fault I ruin everything / And it's not your fault I can't be what you need / Baby, angels like you can't fly down here with me."

Miley previously released her official video for her dance track "Prisoner" with Dua Lipa last week. She also already released her mash-up of "Midnight Sky" with Nicks' 1982 hit "Edge of Seventeen" and renamed it "Edge of Midnight." Cyrus' and Nicks' voices work extremely well together, like a match made in heaven.

“Stevie Nicks has always been my idol & an inspiration,” Miley wrote in a post on Instagram announcing the collab. “It’s an honour to now call her my friend and collaborator.”

In early November, Miley explained the process behind Plastic Hearts. "I began this album over 2 years ago,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole f--king life. But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the musics relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed.” She added that nature did her a favour and "destroyed what I couldn't let go of myself."

"I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes. Luckily my collaborators still had most of the music that was burned up in journals and computers filled with songs for the EP series I was working on at the time. But it never felt right to release my ‘story’ (each record being a continual autobiography) with a huge chapter missing,” she wrote. “If it were a chapter in my book I guess I would call it ‘The Beginning’ which usually when something is over we call it ‘The End’. But it was far from that. In triumph and gratitude I present to you my 7th studio record, Plastic Hearts. To be released Nov. 27th 2020.”'

From tragedy to triumph, Plastic Hearts is exactly what we needed in 2020. The album is available now on all streaming platforms.
